The pharmaceutical company licensing and selling the drug, CTC Bio, plans to sell the dissolvable tongue strip as a treatment for ED.
The company already markets products in Hong Kong, Russia, Paraguay and Lebanon.
CTC Bio is optimistic about sales for 2018 and expects to get approval to sell in up to 30 countries this year.
For men with erectile dysfunction in the United States, the Viagra dissolvable film isn’t available yet, but Viagra is available in pill form as 25 mg, 50 mg or 100 mg tablets by prescription.
Getting Viagra in the United States
Why by prescription? This is the FDA’s way of protecting men’s health. Requiring a prescription helps ensure that the Viagra you get is pure, effective and properly labeled. You know what you’re getting in terms of ingredients and how much you’re getting.
Requiring a prescription for Viagra also ensures that men meet with their doctor to go over current health concerns and medications. This is vital, as Viagra can affect the way other medicines work, and some can even be dangerous when combined with Viagra.
It’s especially important to tell your doctor if you take nitrates, guanylate cyclase stimulators, alpha-blockers, HIV protease inhibitors, oral antifungals, antibiotics, other erectile dysfunction drugs or medicines to treat high blood pressure.
The combination of Viagra and certain medications can cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure.
Side effects of Viagra
Viagra does have some side effects, but most men say they are so minor that they continue taking the erectile dysfunction drug.
The most common side effects of Viagra include a stuffy or a runny nose, back or muscle pain, headache, upset stomach, flushing, abnormal vision, rash, nausea, and dizziness.
